TONAB was selected to perform a full envelope restoration of a 1968 SHPO-eligible educational facility composed of five architecturally distinct wings. The building’s cast-in-place concrete facade had experienced significant deterioration, including widespread spalling and cracking. TONAB repaired the concrete using a Sika restoration system and applied a protective coating across the entire exterior. The original single-pane aluminum hopper windows, which no longer functioned properly and were a frequent source of complaints, were replaced with custom-fabricated units that matched the building’s historic character. Multiple defective roofing systems were also replaced, including a complex liquid-applied membrane system on the cone-shaped auditorium wing. Despite the technical challenges of restoring a mid-century structure to historic standards, TONAB successfully completed the project on time and within budget.
